A Hard Life Down on the Olive Grove!

Lacebug 2014-2015 summer was very dry; our Manzanillo trees were already stressed – cobalt deficiency, story below; so the lace bug attacked and they lost a lot of leaves. Here is a picture of olive lace bug – which is not a nasty imported foreign pest; it is a nasty native Australian pest!

The lace bug moved on to our other trees – which were much more resistant, but still suffered some damage.

So 2015 and 2016 were tough with very limited good quality oil to sell; we did manage to produce good table olives though, from healthy trees.
